“It shouldn’t be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It’s the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something’s difficult to come by, you’ll do that much more to make sure it’s even harder – or impossible – to lose.” ―Sarah Dessen
Thank you to all who submitted and took the September Creative Dare! Once again you guys rocked the projects and this one really seemed to really hit home. Our random September Winner is Deborah Hopkins! Deborah please email your address to[email protected] to claim your Fabscraps prize
October's Creative Dare is about my "Letting It Go" Letting go of the things that keep you from taking chances, holding back, etc. I posed the question the other day on Facebook:
Fill in the blank "To live a creative life we must lose our fear of............."
and I was not surprised by the answers I saw.....we all as Artists seem to have the same fears: Not Being good enough, comparing yourself ot others, judgement, imperfection/perfection, making a mistake, not being good enough, failure and the list went on. I thought to myself what I needed to get rid of in order to really "Let it Go". This was the piece I shared Monday which you can see HERE:
So now I challenge you share what you need to Let go Of in order to BE YOU and truly "let it go". I say that time and time again whether it pertains to your art or your life. To submit just upload your layouts below "ADD YOUR LINK"! If you do not have a blog to link to don't worry! You can still upload to Flicker HERE and link from there too!
Until I learned how to just Let it Go and live my truth though my Art and in my life I was searching for some place impossible. Life is not perfect. Art is not perfect. Now I want to see whaty you are gonig to Let Go Of!
Let it Go my friends........
"We all have quirks and unique perspectives. The more relaxed you become with your own differences, the more comfortable you will start to feel just being YOU. Celebrate being different, off the beaten path, a little on the weird side… your own special creation. If you find yourself feeling like a fish out of water, by all means find a new river to swim in. But DO NOT change who you are; BE who you are. "

"Life is a journey that’s only traveled once; don’t waste it. Today’s moments quickly become tomorrow’s memories. Appreciate today for what it is and make your time count. Make it memorable. Don’t let your coulda’s and shoulda’s of yesterday determine your can’s and will’s of today. Live your life so that you never have to regret the chances you never took, the love you never let in, and the gifts you never gave out."

Monday was one of those days from start to finish that kind of kicked my rear. Like my dad says "Some Days are diamonds, some days are stone". Not only did it kick my rear but it backed over me and knocked me off my game a bit. Just a bit though as I know how to get back up. Unfortunately, my rough luck following me right into Mixed Media Monday where I am usually able to Let it Go. This week internet/Ustream issues tried to rock me but the Art prevailed. I apologize for this issues beyond my control and thanks to all who stuck it out.
I took the premise of my hand painted apron that I shared the other day and just pulled out some DecoArt Paints to "Let it Go" as I always say. Also, Strathmore was generous to send me some AWESOME 11 X 14 Mixed Media Vellum Surface Pads which I LOVE.
If you missed it LIVE it is recorded for your viewing pleasure and available on my YouTube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/TraceB5. I had to re-record the entire event due to the Ustream issues so please enjoy this edited version:
The more I got into this and the technical issues subsided the quotes were flying and I loved that....this is the second page I created during the re-recording:
I thank you guys for joining me and despite the issues sticking with me! Means so much when you have a day like yesterday and get so much support.. To have that support I have in friends/fellow artists, manufacturers, etc. makes me excited to wake up and start over tomorrow. We don't have that midas touch everyday however days like this make you appreciate the escape I have in my Art and those who surround me.
Remember we are OFF next week as I will be in Texas teaching this fun CLASS however I will see you on Monday, Occtober 7th! Remember to join the Facebook Group HERE and share your projects! Don't forget our September Creative Dare too!
Today I quote my friend Yvonne who closed Monday off for me:
"We stick it out with you because you bring yourself to the table every Monday night....and you open yourself up for us in all your cruddy days,,,,,your awesome days and your in between days. You come with honesty and allow the evening to turn into something beautiful and theraputic. You are an awesome person who shares so much with us.....of course we're going to stick it out with you!! ♥"

"...when it comes to working hard to achieve a big life goal of any kind – earning a degree, building a business, or some other personal achievement that takes time and commitment – one thing you have to ask yourself is: “Am I willing to live a few years of my life like many people won’t, so I can spend the rest of my life like many people can’t?”
As I start this beautiful first day of Fall in my Studio I want to thank all who emailed me about the Aprons posted yesterday (on day I did not do my hair!). That was a fun collaborative effort and I always say that Art is better shared! No keeping your Art to yourself. If you emailed me about painting one for you I will email you back! As for masculine ones LOL...not sure about that but will put my thinking cap on.
So this first day of Fall I got in the mood in my Doodle Journal:
It says:
"September when the leaves start to blush and turn red. May Fall be a time to realize how much strong and wiser you are. A new season of blessings..."
I truly believe that. As we close out Summer which was a great one (a blessed one)......I am happy to look to a whole new season.
I have some new things in the works that if meant to be will work out and if not I will look to the next. The end of 2014 is shaping up to be a fun one so thanks for sharing this ride with me and look for bigger and better! You never know where the leaves of change are going to go...........time to work on that October Calendar!
“I am doing the best I can with what I have in this moment. That is all I can ever expect of anyone, including me.” Love yourself and be proud of everything you do, even your mistakes, because your mistakes mean you’re trying."
I am excited to share this DecoArt project. As you know we have aprons for Mixed Media Monday and everyone has been on me about getting paint on mine! So here is what the apron looks like brand new.....
So after much prodding to get paint on it my friend and DecoArt Blogger, Lori Batronis threw down the challenge! We decided to both paint our aprons! Here is my completed Apron and it was so easy to decorate!
All you need are some DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paints (Colors I used: Pearl/White, Lamp Black, Island Blue, Avocado Green, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Green, Green Apple, Tangerine, Primary Yellow, Hauser Light Green, Ocean Blue, Red Pepper, and Fushsia)
Here are my Step-By-Step Photos:
I really enjoyed this challenge and working with these paints. I decided to just let it go and make this apron my own! Thank you Lori for inspiring me and daring me to take this challenge! I loved sharing this and all the fun texts Friday! Make sure to click and see Lori's AWESOME apron HERE! It is so HER ♥!
"There is not a clear path that everyone should follow. Your greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding in life at all the wrong things. Choose a path that fits YOU. Those who follow the crowd usually get lost in it. Challenge yourself to ask with each and every step, and each focus point that consumes your energy"
I always love to finish an Art Journal especially when it has so many memories of fun Monday nights. Each of these pages hold special memories for me as they represent how I was feeling that day. Maybe you will remember some of those pages we painted LIVE...
The best way to capture this is to take a walk through the journal.
I am already looking forward to starting the next one and thank Strathmore for supporting me! I am a huge fan of their Wet Media Art Journals!
See you Monday, September 25th for the start of another Mixed Media Monday Art Journal Adventure!
"Your breath is the bridge between your life circumstances and your consciousness; it unites your body and your thoughts. Whenever your thinking becomes scattered with the worries and stress of busyness, use your breath as the means to take hold of your thoughts again. Just breathe, be present, and do your best with what’s in front of you."
