As many of you know my new website is under construction and looking to launch it ASAP. In the meantime I have been asked to stop the presses, well on my blog at least so all that can be moved to my new website. So....excuse my little break while my website guru's do their magic so that Tracy Weinzapfel Studios will be NEW and IMPROVED!
Some Monday's I I have to talk myself into being creative. Sometimes I just don't have it and have to dig deep, pray, and hope that something happens for Mixed Media Monday. To coin the phrase that my Dad uses "Some day are diamonds, some days are stones". That seemed to be our theme for last night's show.
HERE is what we painted LIVE:
MATERIALS LIST: Paper-Strathmore Mixed Media Vellum Surface, Watercolor Paints - Grumbacher, Pens - Sharpie, Uniball Signo White, Frog Tape, Ink - Daler Rowney, Stamp Pad - Momento
This piece just came alive. I had my doubts along the way but lately have been loving working with blues so this was fun to just Let it Go and see where it took us....

“You can’t force things to happen; you can only drive yourself crazy trying. There’s a time and place for everything. So don’t force what’s not yet supposed to fit into your life. When it’s meant to be, it will be. Work hard, be patient."
I AM excited about this month's Creative Dare! Donna Leuder posted this to the MMM Facebook Group:
This sparked some great conversation so Monday's Mixed Media LIVE was all about that and here is what I painted:

“Surround yourself with people who lift you higher – those who see the great potential in you, even when you don’t see it in yourself."
"Practice, Study. Prepare yourself. Think. Act. Face the beasts. Pay the piper whatever dues you think you have to pay. Do the dance, walk the fire, wait in line. Plant the seeds, hoe the field, go to market. Because on the day that you become all that you now dream of becoming... Oh my gosh, there is simply no price that would seem too great.
It's going to be that good, you're going to be that happy, and it's going to be for so, so long, Guaranteed."
This quote passed my desk this morning and I feel this is exactly what I have been doing for so long. I have felt blessed along the entire path inlcuding the rough times. Now those things I have worked for so hard and continue to do so seem be paying off.
So many new things from my Studio...my new website (in the works):
Also I am in the process of designing new classes to be taught local at some fun locations...details to follow soon!
What does this all mean......I BELIEVE (my word for 2014) in what I truly love and II was meant to do. So back to doing the dance, planting the seeds in trusting in the process. That's all one can do sometimes.
"Life isn’t perfect, but it sure is great. – Our goal shouldn’t be to create a perfect life, but to live an imperfect life in radical amazement. To get up every morning and take and good look around in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is extraordinary. Every day is a gift. Never treat life casually. To be spiritual in any way is to be amazed in every way."
Monday was quite a day for me. Great day in fact and even better to wrap it up with a fun Mixed Media Monday. I was in the zone and painting like "Edward Painter Hands" Here is what I created LIVE:
MATERIALS LIST: Paper-Strathmore Mixed Media Vellum Surface, Watercolors - Grumbacher Deluxe Opaque & Deluxe Transparent, Stencil - DecoArt, Pens - Sharpie, Uniball Signo White and Charocoal Pencil 3B, Ink - Momento

“Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s peace and potential. Stop over-thinking everything. Life is too short."
I love it when my art journal ideas go to Mixed Media Monday's. The whole purpose of my idea journals is to take the ideas I love and use them again and those I don't....let them go. Trust me I have some ideas that do not fly past the journal (and never see the light of day).
Here is the inspiration for Monday's Mixed Media Monday piece direct from my Moleskin watercolor journal:
Here is the 11 X 14 I painted LIVE:
MATERIALS LIST: Paper-Strathmore Mixed Media Vellum Surface, Watercolors - Grumbacher Deluxe Opaque & Deluxe Transparent, Pens - Sharpie, Uniball Signo White and Charocoal Pencil 3B, Ink - Momento
My favorite part of this page was taking Words of the Year from everyone. It was like I incorporated everyone into my piece. That will be a favorite memory for me.....

“Life is to be enjoyed, not endured. When you truly believe in what you’re doing, it shows, and it pays. Success in life is for those who are excited about where they are going. It’s about walking comfortably in your own shoes, in the direction of YOUR dreams."
This journey called Art has brought me a long way. It has carried me at times when I needed an outlet for feelings of frustration and love. It has brought me to work with some amazing companies and people. It has also led me to cross the paths of so many who I have no idea I had an affect on and them vice versa. I am constantly amazed by the creativity of others and inspired. There are times I have no idea what path I am taking or why I am on it. I feel lost......I wonder if I am making a difference. Then late on a Friday night I check my PO Box and this arrives:
From Marion Armitage who says: "You are such an inspiration. Thank you. This card may not be the prettiest but it is about you! Flowers and hearts is ho I see you. The 'fan' just represents the inspiration and love you send out to the air waves. Love it and all you do. I hope February is good to you. Sending Love and Blessings, Marion".
Marion...it is the prettiest card. And there is this from Jean Marmo:
This is from Jean who once told me "I am not the Artistic twin".....Her word last year was Confidence and her art, personality and spirit touch me in ways I cannot express.
and also there was this box with a gift from Lisa Mita:
My word of the year........Believe. There were tears in my eyes as I read her handmade: "Thank you for all you have taught me. You are my inspiration, Lisa Mita".
And this gift at New Year's from my friend and inspiration, Andy Watson who keeps Mixed Media Monday's going, the ♥ of the group....She said this calendar reminder her of me with all the positive quotes.
and I read comments on Facebook, my blog and via email:
"Just watched one of your videos off your blog. I wanted to thank you for doing it and being inspirational. Keep it up. TY. Just a suggestion- You should put a tip jar. I would def tip you :) ~ Matt T"
Matt, I love that idea of a tip jar......"If you like what I am doing here leave some love" LOL!
Susan Hansen "Tracy your mind astounds me...... Especially in the mornings.( And all times) .I absolutely love turning on my iPad and you are there.you are such an inspiration. I just wish you were closer because I need a bottle of you some mornings. It has been a very tough 5 past months in my life, and just looking at you and your work some how gets me through, You are a very special person with a magnificent gift. And for that I thank you xxx"
Vicki Davis Gordon ...."been away from creating for a bit..I have forgot more than i ever knew...so .....i am still gonna dive in...wht the heck...can always paint over it.....Thanks Traccy for sharing your love of creating!!!"
It is not about the gifts. I feel lucky to get such things...it is the words, the sharing of your art, the reminders that this art-filled journey I am on is filled with so many inspiring people along the way. I am wearing that bracelet as a reminder of how much I love to do what I do and share it. I do truly BELIEVE that this path I am is the one I am supposed to be on. I am scared all the time that no one will get it. These reminders have a way of coming in that even if one person get its, gets a message, or learns from something I share that is all that matters.
All I can say is I don't know where I am going but I sure like where I've been (thank you White Snake). The journey is oh so colorful and is taking me on some amazing places with some amzing artistic people! Thank you. ♥
I BELIEVE 2014 will be amzing! I will see you Monday for another edition of Mixed Media Monday tomorrow!!
"Look around today at the people around you, the circumstances you are in and the power that you might have to make the exact difference that you could make. It is big...very very big. Please work hard to see it, every day....and use this beautiful heart that you have been given. The world so needs you and your ideas and your kindness."

“Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Don’t ever hesitate to give yourself a chance to be everything you are capable of being."
When you return to your Studio Monday morning and it looks like this, it was probabaly a good weekend...
This was the aftermath of some creative fun returning to what I love and feeling creative. January was quite the busy month. So I am ready to take on February! I will start with the first Doodle of 2014 and was just happy to pull out that watercolor Moleskin I carried around with me all summer! I missed it!
This was just about bursts of color and playing with some new things I got in my travels..
Lately the question was posed to me "What do you do when you don't feel creative?". That happens and I hate that feeling of forcing creativity. I sometimes just have to see it out. I am lucky that every Monday with Mixed Media Monday's I am challenged to come up with ideas but sometimes those even fail me.
I highly suggest creative trips out. I personally go to Little Italy and spoil myself with Italian food and a trip to Blick's to buy something new. Sometimes a trip to Michael's. It may be a new Art Journal, a pen, markers, watercolors. Somethng small to just use on my next page. Sometimes those creative journeys are enough to spark that creative side of me (and if not, Italian food and wine is in my belly making me smile). Sometimes I go to the beach (sand between my toe time) or a book store to just go through art magazines. I know it is winter for many and there are far and few books stores but that is no excuse not to find your special place. Now I want to venture out and take my painting to the beach.
Some evenings the sunset sparks me and this weekend it was the sunrises. I was up this past weekend by 5 am painting. I took advantage of every moment I had.
This weekend was full of kids, sports and more but I found that creative time. I harnessed it when the mood struck and pulling out that Doodle journal which felt great!
Where do you find your creativity? What is your special place? What inspires you? ♥
"If you desire to make a difference in the world, you must be different from the world. Dare to walk alone, and don’t be scared to like it. Remind yourself that you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if some people disagree."
