“Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Don’t ever hesitate to give yourself a chance to be everything you are capable of being."
Monday was one of those days from start to finish that kind of kicked my rear. Like my dad says "Some Days are diamonds, some days are stone". Not only did it kick my rear but it backed over me and knocked me off my game a bit. Just a bit though as I know how to get back up. Unfortunately, my rough luck following me right into Mixed Media Monday where I am usually able to Let it Go. This week internet/Ustream issues tried to rock me but the Art prevailed. I apologize for this issues beyond my control and thanks to all who stuck it out.
I took the premise of my hand painted apron that I shared the other day and just pulled out some DecoArt Paints to "Let it Go" as I always say. Also, Strathmore was generous to send me some AWESOME 11 X 14 Mixed Media Vellum Surface Pads which I LOVE.
If you missed it LIVE it is recorded for your viewing pleasure and available on my YouTube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/TraceB5. I had to re-record the entire event due to the Ustream issues so please enjoy this edited version:
The more I got into this and the technical issues subsided the quotes were flying and I loved that....this is the second page I created during the re-recording:
I thank you guys for joining me and despite the issues sticking with me! Means so much when you have a day like yesterday and get so much support.. To have that support I have in friends/fellow artists, manufacturers, etc. makes me excited to wake up and start over tomorrow. We don't have that midas touch everyday however days like this make you appreciate the escape I have in my Art and those who surround me.
Remember we are OFF next week as I will be in Texas teaching this fun CLASS however I will see you on Monday, Occtober 7th! Remember to join the Facebook Group HERE and share your projects! Don't forget our September Creative Dare too!
Today I quote my friend Yvonne who closed Monday off for me:
"We stick it out with you because you bring yourself to the table every Monday night....and you open yourself up for us in all your cruddy days,,,,,your awesome days and your in between days. You come with honesty and allow the evening to turn into something beautiful and theraputic. You are an awesome person who shares so much with us.....of course we're going to stick it out with you!! ♥"
As I start this beautiful first day of Fall in my Studio I want to thank all who emailed me about the Aprons posted yesterday (on day I did not do my hair!). That was a fun collaborative effort and I always say that Art is better shared! No keeping your Art to yourself. If you emailed me about painting one for you I will email you back! As for masculine ones LOL...not sure about that but will put my thinking cap on.
So this first day of Fall I got in the mood in my Doodle Journal:
It says:
"September when the leaves start to blush and turn red. May Fall be a time to realize how much strong and wiser you are. A new season of blessings..."
I truly believe that. As we close out Summer which was a great one (a blessed one)......I am happy to look to a whole new season.
I have some new things in the works that if meant to be will work out and if not I will look to the next. The end of 2014 is shaping up to be a fun one so thanks for sharing this ride with me and look for bigger and better! You never know where the leaves of change are going to go...........time to work on that October Calendar!
“I am doing the best I can with what I have in this moment. That is all I can ever expect of anyone, including me.” Love yourself and be proud of everything you do, even your mistakes, because your mistakes mean you’re trying."
I am excited to share this DecoArt project. As you know we have aprons for Mixed Media Monday and everyone has been on me about getting paint on mine! So here is what the apron looks like brand new.....
So after much prodding to get paint on it my friend and DecoArt Blogger, Lori Batronis threw down the challenge! We decided to both paint our aprons! Here is my completed Apron and it was so easy to decorate!
All you need are some DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paints (Colors I used: Pearl/White, Lamp Black, Island Blue, Avocado Green, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Green, Green Apple, Tangerine, Primary Yellow, Hauser Light Green, Ocean Blue, Red Pepper, and Fushsia)
Here are my Step-By-Step Photos:
I really enjoyed this challenge and working with these paints. I decided to just let it go and make this apron my own! Thank you Lori for inspiring me and daring me to take this challenge! I loved sharing this and all the fun texts Friday! Make sure to click and see Lori's AWESOME apron HERE! It is so HER ♥!
"There is not a clear path that everyone should follow. Your greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding in life at all the wrong things. Choose a path that fits YOU. Those who follow the crowd usually get lost in it. Challenge yourself to ask with each and every step, and each focus point that consumes your energy"

"You won’t settle for the work that makes you a living, without also balancing in alife that’s worth living. You won’t settle for the man or woman who keeps you warm at night, but who can’t see his or her way into the depths of your soul or the breadth of your heart. You won’t settle for giving less than everything to your work, to your play, to your loves, to your life. In fact, if there’s one thing you will settle into in this lifetime, it’s the belief that the greatest risk is never to risk at all. And oh, how you’re willing to dare greatly – for passion, for connection, for the adventure of being alive."
I was back Monday for Mixed Media Monday and boy did it feel great. Just like in baseball when you hit the ball in that sweet spot you just know. Tonight was one of those nights for me. Taking that much needed time off to regroup and refresh only heightend my creative spirit. I am thankful to all who said they missed Monday's and all who joined us. Lots of fun!

"Pause for a moment. Breathe in slowly and deeply. Exhale. Feel the miracle of your breath. And say, “Thank you.” Be as grateful as possible, for small things, not just for big things – for the simple act of breathing, the time together, the conversations, etc. Every moment counts. Every second matters. Whatever is given is a gift. Right now life isn’t perfect, but it sure is good. Acknowledging this is is the foundation for all the happiness and abundance you seek."
Thank you so much for a most fulfilling and fun July! We had month full of creative Mondays and I am ready to get this August party strated! Summer is just flying by!

Yesterday I talked about finding your Spirit so I decided to make that the theme of my Mixed Media Monday piece. This is what I painted in my 9 X 12 art journal...
Monday was all about our spirit. Thank you to Mary for the quote and for moderating along with Lori and Andy. Also, thanks to Lori for being that voice in my ear when I got into "The Zone" of painting (that was the ear bud in my ear).
Thank you for giving me the place to share and grow my spirit.......I am grateful for that time and for the connections that come from sharing my artistic side!
I welcome everyone to join the Facebook Group HERE and share your projects! See you next Monday, July 29th! Make sure to check out the July Creative Dare and submit!
“Now is a perfect time to start.” – The simple fact is that life is a series of events based on your own actions at any given moment. You can have those events happen in your life in any order or sequence you like."
Someone posted the question to me the other day on what I bring with me in my travels as far as art supplies. The truth of the matter is you will rarely find me without art supplies of some type. You can usually find them on my nightstand at night too. For example today I took my son to the DMV to get his permit (YES he passed!) so while I was killing the time I played in my doodle book....
First and foremost I divide my supplies in Viewtainers. This way if I only want my markers they and/or journaling pens they are easy to grab. I prefer the Tethered tops as you cannot lose them and easy to get things in and out.
So here is a close up of my travel supplies (click to enlarge)...

And here is my DMV piece of art.......
and my son with his driver's permit!

Ok, every Monday I get to be with you, stream LIVE via the internet and come up with a creative project that reflects where I am. Maybe it is where I am that day, that month...this time in my life. Every week I get the honor of seeing your work and how that time inspired you. So I am asking you to Pick a Monday! Pick a Monday that moved you, inspired you to talk about something, to paint something, to glue something, that made you look at a flower differently, etc. Whatever it is from that Monday or Monday re-cap that made you pick up a pen, scissors, paint brush!
Post your completed project along with a photo of my original piece that you selected in your post. Leave a comment on this post and upload your project below It is easy to submit! Just upload your layouts below "ADD YOUR LINK"! If you do not have a blog to link to don't worry! You can still upload to Flicker HERE and link from there too!
I DARE you to get creative and to work outside your comfort zones..... Here is a post with a complete album I painted for MMM HERE. There are so many projects to choose from like.....
I love the emails, comments and postings sharing just that little thing that meant something or how MMM (Mixed Media Monday's) moved you.......that is what I want to see in July. I love to keep a pulse on what you like to see, things you want to share together and how I can make a difference in YOUR LIFE! That is my personal challenge this July. It is to make a difference.......
Maybe it was this Monday's project that I shared HERE that moved you..
So July's Challenge is to Pick a Monday.......create a piece, share that piece and let me know how Mixed Media Monday's plays a role in your life, big or small. I know for me it developed in a time in my life that I needed it most. The friendships I have formed have changed me as a person as my Art tells a bigger picture......it defines me at times.
Mixed Mediam Monday's Mean to Me.......creativity, empowerment, sharing, inspiring, propelling me foward, filling my heart with ART every week and so much more! What do they mean to you?
" Know deep down that every step is worth it. Through every life experience, especially those that force you to look fear and adversity in the face, you will gain strength, courage and confidence. Stop when you must, take a deep breath and say to yourself, “I am living through this and I am still OK. I can take the next thing that comes my way.”
