I was hired to paint stemless martini glasses and asked their favorite flower...daisies...perfect! This was going to be an easy one for me. I grabbed my Deco Gloss Enamels and went to it one afternoon. Glass is not my normal medium so it was fun to venture off paper and canvas and have this 3-dimentional medium to play with (and I know a great martini glass).
I decided I need to share this project and offer more glasses for sale:
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Before painting, wash the glass in hot soapy water using a soft dishcloth. Price labels and stickers usually remove easily when soaked in hot water. Rinse any soap residue away with warm or hot water, then dry the piece with a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel.
Freehand paint with DecoArt Gloss Enamels (Colors: White, Primary Yellow, and Hauser Medium Green)
For a durable, dishwasher-safe finish, bake the piece to cure the paint. Place piece on a cookie sheet and put into a cold oven. Heat oven to the appropriate temperature, according to package directions. Bake for 30 minutes, then turn the oven off and leave the piece inside until the oven is completely cool.
I am going to go back and get 4 more glasses for me! I am ready to paint some more custom ones so feel free to contact me ([email protected]).
Cheers!

“Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s peace and potential. Stop over-thinking everything. Life is too short."
I am one who does not like change. I don't like things to stay the same however when change starts to hit me in the rear I find myself fighting it and it is scary. Comparing myself to a butterfly has helped me in the past and I have come out with some amazing colors. When career changes and life changes have come about I get scared...but today I saw this saying and it is oh so true....
So in the way I know to be true I took to my art journal. I accept those wonderful changes that I dream about and work toward.
My watercolor journal yet again is the place for me to share......
and this butterfly which to me has always represented change..
sometimes just seeing a piece takes life makes me happy...
It is one day at a time...new website in the works. Editing and sharing my vision from my Studio. Not being afraid to take my art to places not even I dreamed of. Changes in my life, my home, with my kids and new stages of life. Stay tuned!
I would not called this "Unwanted Change" but wonderful changes and new wings with greater colors ready to fly. I know many know the leaps I have taken before. Now to do that again. Thanks to so many who leap with me so I am not alone. ♥
"Remember, we can’t become what we need to be by remaining exactly what we are. Life is change, but growth is optional. Choose wisely. When we lose ourselves in the things we love, we find ourselves there too. So if you are passionate about something, pursue it. Stretch yourself. You will know you’re on the right track in life when you become completely uninterested in looking back, and eager to take the next step."
Micky had her final Father/Daugher dance in elementary school this week..
Loved her choice of dress with boots! (I guess that has rubbed off)
and I just loved that time getting her ready for her special night....
I love that she wants me to curl her hair and have that girl time....
The teenager in her is starting to emerge....
Still sweet with her friends..
and her Dad...
She had a great time and loved to hear all about it....giving and sharing those moments with her are what it is all about. ♥
"Life changes every moment. Anything can happen in just one moment. Make your moments count by noticing them. Live today with eyes wide open. The immaculate beauty of NOW is such a thing. We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our attention and gratitude. How often do you pause to appreciate your life and everyone and everything in it? How often do you stop dead in your tracks, just to take a deep breath and smile?"
Sometimes things get a little out of whack in life. Too much work, kids, sports, obligations, emails, etc. Not enough YOU time. Lately I have that the other stuff run me a bit and this morning I decided to take some time to walk my local Grasslands. I am so lucky to live right down the road from some awesome trails (along with great weather) and sometimes I take that for granted.
Sometimes the best way to reign it all back in is to shut down and take some time to just walk....
turn up my music.....
and just take in the surroundings...
and it is good for me too because good food and spirits is catching up with me. Time to burn that off.....
Taking some me time to Breathe and.....
I hope you find that time to rekindle the spirit and move your body. It really does a body and mind good.
"Work to create a life that feels right to YOU, not one that looks right to everyone else. Your life is your message to the world; make sure it’s inspiring. Allow yourself more moments of awe and wonder and passion and grace. Dare to walk alone, and don’t be scared to like it. Remind yourself that you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if some people disagree."
I love it when my art journal ideas go to Mixed Media Monday's. The whole purpose of my idea journals is to take the ideas I love and use them again and those I don't....let them go. Trust me I have some ideas that do not fly past the journal (and never see the light of day).
Here is the inspiration for Monday's Mixed Media Monday piece direct from my Moleskin watercolor journal:
Here is the 11 X 14 I painted LIVE:
MATERIALS LIST: Paper-Strathmore Mixed Media Vellum Surface, Watercolors - Grumbacher Deluxe Opaque & Deluxe Transparent, Pens - Sharpie, Uniball Signo White and Charocoal Pencil 3B, Ink - Momento
My favorite part of this page was taking Words of the Year from everyone. It was like I incorporated everyone into my piece. That will be a favorite memory for me.....

“Life is to be enjoyed, not endured. When you truly believe in what you’re doing, it shows, and it pays. Success in life is for those who are excited about where they are going. It’s about walking comfortably in your own shoes, in the direction of YOUR dreams."
This journey called Art has brought me a long way. It has carried me at times when I needed an outlet for feelings of frustration and love. It has brought me to work with some amazing companies and people. It has also led me to cross the paths of so many who I have no idea I had an affect on and them vice versa. I am constantly amazed by the creativity of others and inspired. There are times I have no idea what path I am taking or why I am on it. I feel lost......I wonder if I am making a difference. Then late on a Friday night I check my PO Box and this arrives:
From Marion Armitage who says: "You are such an inspiration. Thank you. This card may not be the prettiest but it is about you! Flowers and hearts is ho I see you. The 'fan' just represents the inspiration and love you send out to the air waves. Love it and all you do. I hope February is good to you. Sending Love and Blessings, Marion".
Marion...it is the prettiest card. And there is this from Jean Marmo:
This is from Jean who once told me "I am not the Artistic twin".....Her word last year was Confidence and her art, personality and spirit touch me in ways I cannot express.
and also there was this box with a gift from Lisa Mita:
My word of the year........Believe. There were tears in my eyes as I read her handmade: "Thank you for all you have taught me. You are my inspiration, Lisa Mita".
And this gift at New Year's from my friend and inspiration, Andy Watson who keeps Mixed Media Monday's going, the ♥ of the group....She said this calendar reminder her of me with all the positive quotes.
and I read comments on Facebook, my blog and via email:
"Just watched one of your videos off your blog. I wanted to thank you for doing it and being inspirational. Keep it up. TY. Just a suggestion- You should put a tip jar. I would def tip you :) ~ Matt T"
Matt, I love that idea of a tip jar......"If you like what I am doing here leave some love" LOL!
Susan Hansen "Tracy your mind astounds me...... Especially in the mornings.( And all times) .I absolutely love turning on my iPad and you are there.you are such an inspiration. I just wish you were closer because I need a bottle of you some mornings. It has been a very tough 5 past months in my life, and just looking at you and your work some how gets me through, You are a very special person with a magnificent gift. And for that I thank you xxx"
Vicki Davis Gordon ...."been away from creating for a bit..I have forgot more than i ever knew...so .....i am still gonna dive in...wht the heck...can always paint over it.....Thanks Traccy for sharing your love of creating!!!"
It is not about the gifts. I feel lucky to get such things...it is the words, the sharing of your art, the reminders that this art-filled journey I am on is filled with so many inspiring people along the way. I am wearing that bracelet as a reminder of how much I love to do what I do and share it. I do truly BELIEVE that this path I am is the one I am supposed to be on. I am scared all the time that no one will get it. These reminders have a way of coming in that even if one person get its, gets a message, or learns from something I share that is all that matters.
All I can say is I don't know where I am going but I sure like where I've been (thank you White Snake). The journey is oh so colorful and is taking me on some amazing places with some amzing artistic people! Thank you. ♥
I BELIEVE 2014 will be amzing! I will see you Monday for another edition of Mixed Media Monday tomorrow!!
"Look around today at the people around you, the circumstances you are in and the power that you might have to make the exact difference that you could make. It is big...very very big. Please work hard to see it, every day....and use this beautiful heart that you have been given. The world so needs you and your ideas and your kindness."
The last few days I have returned to my watercolor journal and loving the creative process. For me it is to grab my watercolors or watercolor markers and paint. Then doodle. I know lots of people who draw out their doodles and then color but I am all about letting it go with the paint brush before I add the details. I wish I could work the other way around sometimes but just letting it go feels great.
My process looks something like this..
The other morning I woke up and painted this...(while I was on Skype with my friend Lori)
Lately I have had to make a shift in my creative time from night to morning. In order to maximize that time I take the crazy doodle part to bed like I did last night.....
There is something so relaxing about ending my day with something creative and putting my thoughts and feelings down on paper. Making that shift from night to morning is not easy. You have to retrain yourself. Otherwise I get to the end of the day and I am just lights out. I make the most of every day and just like fitting in that time for fitness, fitting in your creative exercises is important.
I would love to hear what your creative process is......
"Pay attention to the little things, because when you really miss someone you miss the little things the most, like just laughing together. Go for long walks. Indulge in great conversations. Count your mutual blessings. Let go for a little while and just BE together."
When I received DecoArt's Americana Decor Chalky Finish line I had two cigar boxes that was just calling it's name. First I want to say that I LOVE this paint. It goes on most surfaces and I LOVE The color selection:
I will also make mention that these paints are currently exclusively available from HomeDepot.com. This is my redecorated Cigar Box.....
Right now my life is filled with sports and more sports! (not complaining...stating a fact). Loving it but very busy times...
Tyler JV soccer....
Joey is in rec. basketball...
Micky in travel basketball...
and the newest sport to join our family is Volleyball!
Her first tournament was this weekend they lost however after only two practices...they are off to a great start! It was fun to photograph a new sport. I have to practice at this one. Long day for the girls but Micky loved it. I love to see that.
My philosophy is to keep them busy as to keep them involved as long as I can. Looking forward to high school track season and Joey wants to try indoor soccer. Never a dull moment but those days are numbered for this Mama Bear (at least they better be...banking on a fruity cocktail one day by the beach when it is time for those kids to drive around their own). ♥ May they one day appreciate the sacrifices we make as parents to do the best we can for them.
