March 2014 Creative Dare - I AM!

I AM excited about this month's Creative Dare!  Donna Leuder posted this to the MMM Facebook Group:

This sparked some great conversation so Monday's Mixed Media LIVE was all about that and here is what I painted:

 

March is all about "I AM" which I further shared about yesturday HERE.  I really am looking to seeing everyone's projects from this.  Stretch yourself and like I said, you can share 1 piece with all the things you are or one piece per.  Submit as many times as you would like and each Monday we will delve into that this month.

January Creative Dare 2014 & MORE!

What a great end to 2013!  I swear I do not know where the time goes and I apologize for the delay in getting the January Creative Dare posted!  The beginning of January has already been a whirlwind and I feel refreshed and happy.  As I shared on our last Mixed Media Monday my word for 2014 is Believe...

I have traveled some bumpy roads, walked some miles and smiled, laughed and cried.  I truly do Believe in my dreams, everything good is possible, I believe in those around me, Love and most of all in myself.  There are some new and amazing things coming in 2014 and I am ready.  I kind feel like I have been preparing all 43 years of my life.  So with that said.........

I DARE you to use your Word of 2014 Creatively.  Put it to paper, canvas, card, or whatever medium you prefer!

2013 has gone by so fast and I plan on sending it out on a high note with all my many blessings.  Knowing who I am and vhat I value during this busy holiday season is particularly important for me.  I have also decided to continue to "LET IT GO" and not let the stresses of the season get to me.  Things always have a way of working out, decorations get up, Christmas cards do get sent (or not), but the time you have with family and friends is the most valuable.  Make time for YOU too!  Let's get this party started!  Bring on December 2013!

September 2013 Creative Dare - Share your Home

Thank you to all who submitted and took the August Creative Dare!  Once again you guys rocked the projects and this one really seemed to really hit home.  Our random Augustwinner is Jessica Baldwin!  Jessica please email your address to [email protected] to claim your prize

I am excited for the September Creative Dare because it is all about your Home.  Whether your home is the physical one you live in or yourself.  We all get to choose what we allow in and for me my home/myself is very protected.  There was a time I did not know the power of the word "No".  I was your typical people pleasing "Yes" Woman.  One day I took stock in my phone ringing and literally counted the number of times my phone rang and the number of "things" people wanted.  I was the "Yes" Woman!  "Yes" I can team mom, "Yes" I can room mom, "Yes" I can make 3000 copies a day, "Yes" I can balance the PTA books.  "Yes" I can cook dinner, clean house, juggle, mindread and spin plates.  "Yes" I can wear a cape and fly!  It was Super Woman syndrome.  Then there came a day when I realized that all those "Yes's" were leaving me drained and empty.  

The power of the word "No" allowed me to decide what I allowed in my home, my personal space.  I get to choose what makes a difference.  I decide who to open the front door to.  It feels great and I have taken years to work on that.  

So Monday I shared my "home" and what I want in it:

 

So now I challenge you to share your "Home".  You can list what you want left out or focus on what you want inside.  Maybe you wish there was less clutter in your house and are working on it.  It is great reminder of what is important to you.  I may even do this Dare again as I need a 12 bedroom house to list more things....

Until I learned the power of the word "No" and decided for myself (and my kids) just how important our Home is my life was filled with clutter.  My home and life is for the most part clutter-free and full of the things that are important to us.

Return to the Studio to Let it Go!

It seems like forever since I was able to do something creative however I realize while I was gone I was writing a lot so that counts.  I returned to a LIST a mile long of things I need to do but top on that list was to unload some of the creativity and get back in my Studio.  Friday night after a long day of shopping, haircuts, laundry, work, paying bills, nearly losing a credit card (thank you to the Chevron gas station attendent who found it and called me!), cleaning, and more work I poured myself a glass of wine.  I put on my favorite music, lit my new candle and had me a good 'ole romantic time painting & doodling!......

My mom got me these cool little cards that have sayings on them so I decided to pick one out and just go for it.......

 

and I decided to just keep going and Let it Go......(after two glasses of wine that gets easier)

 

This month's Creative Dare is all about Letting it Go so that is exactly what I am doing!  I am thankful for the jumpstart I gave myself that was needed.  

 "Balance yourself – work diligently toward your goals and dreams, but don’t ignore every other aspect of your life.  Keep your mind fresh, your body active and alive, and your relationships nurtured.  Do so, and the things you want most in life will come more naturally."

Sometimes life throws you a curve balls every now and again.  Life Lessons.....moments you will grow from.  People always say "you will get through this", "this will only make you stronger", yadda-yadda-yadda.  That I do know for sure.  As an artist when you are in your highest of happy's and lowest of lows you not only feel them but you want to express those emotions.  I know that some of my greatest pieces have come from those high's and low's.
