Someone posted the question to me the other day on what I bring with me in my travels as far as art supplies. The truth of the matter is you will rarely find me without art supplies of some type. You can usually find them on my nightstand at night too. For example today I took my son to the DMV to get his permit (YES he passed!) so while I was killing the time I played in my doodle book....
First and foremost I divide my supplies in Viewtainers. This way if I only want my markers they and/or journaling pens they are easy to grab. I prefer the Tethered tops as you cannot lose them and easy to get things in and out.
So here is a close up of my travel supplies (click to enlarge)...

And here is my DMV piece of art.......
and my son with his driver's permit!
Just because.....let's do a Viewtainer giveaway! A Red, White & Blue Viewtainer 3-Pack (which are ON SALE!) to a random winner for leaving a comment on this blog post AND please go to Viewtainer on Facebook and leave a comment there! You can pick from the 2" X 4" or 6"! They are close to 700 LIKES SO LET"S GET THERE!
Have fun on your summer travels and even around town!

Great take along ideas. What do you do with the Gesso?

Thanks Susan, sometimes I will grab a couple of my DecoArt acrylic paints and take them along but I limited myself to a few colors. Plus Gesso is the one tool that I can erase things and start over or just use it for texture :)

What a great travel kit and I'm so proud for your son!! Good for him! I think these viewtainers are so neat. The first time I saw one was at an art retreat. A girl there had them for her art markers. I want to get some of these for myself. They are perfect for traveling!

Thanks for another great doodle post. I stumbled across your blog recently and have been inspired to start doodling again. Thank you for that. I have recently become an empty nester, so this has helped get through that.
Congratulations to your son on his learners permit!

Great doodle job! Either you're quick or you were there awhile :) Congrats to Tyler and good luck to you riding shotgun! I'm thinking I may take a few art supplies to China, but the only time I'll probably find is traveling between stops or at night in the hotel. I definitely am taking a journal, though. I have it here waiting for some art on the cover.
