I want to share something as I was going through the pictures from the last few months and finally unloading my camera....there were so many special moments when my parents were here and one of them was a gift my dad made for his granddaughter.
He made a beautiful music box out of wood for Michaela. It is beautiful. My dad is such an amazing artist and this may be one of his most beautiful pieces yet........
It plays "Over the Rainbow" and "When you Wish Upon a Star" which are two of her favorite songs. When she heard them play her face lit up....
So great how much he loves his grandkids and nice to see he has an additional Princess to spoil. This will forever be something she treasures and will always think of her Papa when it plays...
Truly a work of art from one of the greatest Artists I know...
I don't mind stepping aside for my little girl but Hey DAD......KICK DOWN........MOMMA WANTS A MUSIC BOX! ♥
"Do not wish your moments away. Do not ruin today by focusing on another time and place. There is only now; realize how rich you are in it. It stands to reason that if you learn to live well you will eventually pass on well too, in complete peace. The skills are the same: being present in the moment, and brave, and thankful for all the opportunities you have. Make your time count. Right now you are creating history – your legacy."
Oh Tracy! How gorgeous this music box is and the love that he put into it! So special and truly something that she will treasure and her children will treasure as well.....not many grand kids can say that Grandpa made them a music box! My Dad made toys for his grand kids as well.....for my girls he made a Ferris wheel, a merry go round, a puzzle of the United States, and even an iron and an ironing board! He hated to paint so everything is the natural wood that he stained.....these things now that he is gone are so incredibly special!
You Dad's artistry is beautiful, and in a way he has given you a music box in the art that lives in you.
Thank you for sharing Michaela's special gift and moment with us!

Talk about magic! Look at that smile on Michaela's face! What a keepsake for her, and it also must have been a thrill for your father to present it to her! The music box itself is absolutely gorgeous. I bought a jewelry box for both my daughter and, later, my stepdaughter at a wood shop, paying upwards of $300 for each one. But, the "priceless-ness" of this treasure is that Grandpa made it just for your daughter! Awesome story!

That's adorable, and your dad has some excellent woodworking skills! I love the emotion captured in these photos. I have a music box device, without a music box, that plays "You are my Sunshine". It reminds me of my grandma.

Tracy,
This is really beautiful and such a gift to treasure for eternity, your dad is one in a million. My dad makes me some rustic outdoor things like chairs and benches. These are the moments to treasure forever. Gosh I have tears in my eyes for the joy of giving and the love oozing out of your dad.
