I am so excited to be a part of the Virtual Gallery Walk with some amazing artists! When I was asked to be a part by Liz Hicks I immediately thought of the artist who I feel greatly impacted by... Theodor Seuss Geisel aka Dr. Seuss. One thing we have in common is doodling. I doodle on everything and when I found I could include that in my art I felt it found a home and had purpose. While he was living his art was rarely shared. He dreamed of being featured in art galleries (I have the same dream!) and that came true thanks to his wife who carried out his wishes after he died (kinda hoping this happens before I am dead ♥).
I am lucky in that many pieces of his art are featured locally as he resided in La Jolla, CA so I can visit art galleries and study his pieces. Thank you to his wife for making that possible! I very much live by the quotes from books such as "Oh the Places You'll Go!"
“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So . . . get on your way!”
I am happy to share some pieces of my own art that I feel had that Dr. Seuss influences......from my art journal:
I created this card using one of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes.....
Once I saw this piece at www.drseussart.com I loved the the whimsical style and vivid colors characteristic of Dr. Seuss...
So I created this handpainted card with another of my personal favorite quotes that can be given and/or framed!
My childhhood artist inspiratons were Walt Disney, Lewis Carol and Dr. Suess. Today he continues to inspire me by his words and courage to create what speaks to you!! It has taken me a long time (42 years) to embrace my uniqueness and gifts while his lessons were so simple and in every book I read...
Being an artist means embracing your uniqueness and not being afraid to share. Art can put us out there where we are raw and vulnerable. There is comparing and competing...when really there is just what is within you. How does your art speak to you and for you? How does it express your uniqueness? I strive to answer those questions every day....embrace YOU!
Thank you for stopping by. I am honored to be a featured Artist! Today's feature artists are:

Thank you Liz for asking me to be a part of this Virtual Gallery Walk. It really got me thinking about my art and the thanks I have to artists before me. Oh how I wish I had the opportunity to thank Dr. Seuss for inspiring me. I feel today by participating in this Virtual Gallery I am able to do that. I hope as you see his books you will take a second look at his art and see how it inspires you!
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” ~ Dr. Seuss
Congrats Tracy on being included in this walk!! Love your inspiration and can see it in the pieces you created!! Thanks for all you do for our group!

I am a huge fan of your art Tracy. I would gladly feature you in my art gallery if I had one. You inspire so many of us to step outside of our comfort zone and just create. That is truly a gift that few have. Congratulations on being included in this virtual walk to showcase your work. You deserve it my friend.

Awesome samples of your work! Love love love that you're painting cards these days. :-D What's funny is that Dr. Seuss did not have a major impact in my life as a child (green eggs and ham is the only book of his I'd read as a child), but as a mother of 5, he certainly has! It's amazing how much meaning there is to his words and Dr. Seuss is definitely a big part of our home library. His whimsical creatures, fun color combo's and creative worlds are also a hit with the whole family. :-D Thank you, Tracy, for inspiring me, motivating me and bring a bit of fun to my life every week! :-D

So extremely proud of you and happy for you, Tracy! I must know a little about how you feel about Dr. Suess and the other artists because......that's how I feel about you! I don't have words to explain what you have taught me and how much you mean to me! God knows just who to put in our lives when we need them most! Grateful for you and that you brought so many wonderful people into my life! Including Glue Mom and Glue Dad!!!!!

Andy

I have been waiting for the day of the virtual tour that featured you! I think you know I love your work and more importantly, love you! You are a kind, generous, giving and talented person. Sounds a lot like your mentor, Dr. Seuss! I have always given "Oh The Places You'll Go!" as a graduation gift, there is a lot of wisdom in that book that goes way beyond little kids.
I have no doubt you will be featured in galleries, and more than that. You have a talent that speaks to others and you give to the world in so many ways. Keep believing and watching as your dreams come true!
Hugs,
Maureen

I love Dr Seuss, his colors, his style, his humor! I even wear a Cat-in-the-Hat watch at work! I hadn't seen his 5 Lessons before but they are so right-on! I honestly can't say that any one person has influenced my art since I tend to take something away from EVERY artist I come across!!
