Just because you are away from your studio that is no reason to stop the creative flow. I have over the years packed a travel art kit that allows me still feel creative. I also have been able to confine it to a small space like on an airplane or even my lap.
One thing about me is I am a doodler. And I am at my worse when I am in a class or lecture situation and am forced to stay still. I find that doodling and drawing keeps me focused and listening. I was like that all the way through school and if I don't do that I lose focus and/or fall asleep. My travel art journaling has really evolved.
The journal I use is a small 3 X 5 moleskin watercolor journal. This is only an idea journal where I keep some raw ideas and just freely try new techniques. It is not to create a masterpiece but to just keep that creative mojo going.
Some of my travel tools include: adhesive runner, journaling pens, small water colors, Faber Castell Gelatos, water brush, paper towel, paint brushes, spray bottle and of course my favorite charcoal pencils! Have to have those! I have shared a photo of some of my travel kit. Also attached are some of my pages.
So the next time you are away...take your studio on the road. I would love to hear any travel art tips anyone has!
Tracy

I never realized that I am also a doodler from way back...just was cleaning out many things my mother had saved through the years, (note to self to throw away so my kids don't have to..lol) and she saved old phone books that I had doodled on! I use to doodle everywhere.
I need to make a kit I can carry so I am always keeping my hands busy
Thanks for sharing
